Sync App Home is a family organizer run by Shem Hatfield. This page explains what information Sync App Home keeps, why, and the choices you have. The short version: your family's information is used only to run Sync App Home for your family. It is never sold, never used for advertising, and never shared except with the services listed below that Sync App Home needs in order to work.
What Sync App Home stores
- What your family enters: family members, chores, points, rewards, calendar events, meals, recipes, school assignments, reminders, and settings.
- Photos and media you upload, such as profile pictures and scenery.
- Sign-in information: the email address of each parent account and a scrambled (hashed) version of the password. The parental PIN is stored the same way. Sync App Home never stores passwords or PINs in readable form.
- Signed-in devices, such as a kitchen screen or a phone, so a parent can see them and sign them out.
This information is stored with Cloudflare, which hosts Sync App Home, in the United States, and is sent over encrypted (HTTPS) connections.
Google Calendar
If a parent chooses to connect Google Calendar, Sync App Home asks Google for permission to:
- See the list of your calendars, so you can choose which one new events go to;
- Add, change, and delete events, but only the events created in Sync App Home, in the calendar you chose;
- See your email address, to show which Google account is connected.
Sync App Home uses this access only to keep the events your family creates in Sync App Home in sync with your Google Calendar. It does not read your other events through this connection, does not share Google data with anyone, does not use it for advertising, and does not use it to train AI models. The access key Google provides is stored encrypted. You can disconnect at any time in Sync App Home Settings, which also revokes the access in your Google account, or from your Google Account's security settings.
Sync App Home's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Calendar feed links
If you add a calendar by pasting its private address (an "iCal" or "ICS" link), Sync App Home keeps that link on its server to display the calendar's events. The link is never shown in full to devices, and you can remove it at any time in Settings.
Other services Sync App Home uses
- Weather: your saved city is sent to OpenWeather to get the forecast.
- Voice commands (only if turned on): what you say is turned into text on your device. That text is sent to Anthropic to work out what you asked for, and spoken replies are created with Google Text-to-Speech.
- Calling (only if turned on): calls are connected through Twilio.
Children
Information about children is entered and managed by their parents. Children do not create their own accounts, and Sync App Home does not collect information directly from children.
Keeping and deleting your information
Sync App Home keeps your family's information while your household uses it. To have your household's information deleted, email the address below and it will be removed within 30 days.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will change. Significant changes will be shared with the families using Sync App Home.
